America Saves for Young Workers (ASYW) is an initiative of America Saves that promotes workplace savings for young adults. We are beginning our work in this area with a large and vulnerable population, young first-time summer workers from low-income households. These young people are inexperienced about personal finance and are less likely to save any of their earnings. Employment for this group of 16- to 24-year-olds reached nearly 20 million in July 2013, as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

“We are pleased to offer our employees a way to save money automatically through your direct deposited paycheck. It’s called split deposit and it’s a recommended way to pay yourself first and watch your money grow. The program is called Split to Save, which we offer to you in partnership with America Saves, and it helps you create a simple saving plan for a goal of your choice. Your savings goal can be simply to set aside money for unexpected expenses, to save for a down payment on a home, to take a vacation or buy a new car. It’s your choice and the money is automatically deposited into an account of your choice. You have control over how much money to save, for what purpose, where to save it and when to use the money. ”
